Announcement for TV Animation Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet 9
Netflix worldwide distribution of series continuation to begin July 3rd!!

Polygon Pictures Inc.Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO:Shuzo Shiota) is proud to announce that the TV animation, Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine (created by Tsutomu Nihei and serialized in Kodansha’s monthly magazine Afternoon), is to begin broadcast worldwide via Netflix, Inc. (CEO: Reed Hastings, Head Office: Los Gatos, CA), the largest global internet television network, on July 3rd, 2015.

Knights of Sidonia was distributed by Netflix from July of last year to international acclaim. Like the previous season, distribution of the current series will begin simultaneously in numerous countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Mexico, and Brazil, and features dubbing in 5 languages. Subtitles will be available in 10 languages.

About Knights of Sidonia

This popular mecha sci-fi manga by Tsutomu Nihei is currently serialized in Kodansha's monthly magazine Afternoon. In 2015 it won a Kodansha Manga Award in the “General Category.”Following the first TV series, the theatrical edition of Knights of Sidonia was released in March. The new series, Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine, which continues the story, is currently airing in Japan at the Animeism hour on stations including MBS (Mainichi Broadcast System).

Story: It's been a thousand years since the Gauna, a strange alien race with no known method of communication, destroyed the solar system. A portion of humanity managed to escape using enormous "seed ships" like the Sidonia, which have allowed them to maintain the population as the ships drift through space. Nagate Tanikaze is a young man who has been raised deep in the bowels of the ship. When he goes into training to pilot the huge robotic weapons known as Gardes, Nagate is entrusted with piloting the legendary unit known as Tsugumori. Nagate and his fellow pilots put their lives on the line against the Gauna, in the ultimate battle for the survival of humanity!
